For the advanced milling model machinery, vertical machining center is a vertically arranged type of milling based center type machine which contains strong vertical columns that could cope with various machining duties within a faster cycle time.
While conventional milling centers may require more cycle time due to the lack of accessories for the supportive purposes, machining centers are much more convenient in this phase for the complex machining duties and profiling cutting, rendering a good reputation in the complicated processing. Because the machining stage moves in the vertical direction, the structure of the vertical machining center is basically easy to understand. Traditional milling centers and machining centers consist of at least three axes for machining and processing, which is basically sufficient to cover most of the machining tasks described on the blueprint.
However, the changes in the modern commercial market have led to changes in processing engineering. The modern commercial market now requires faster transportation and shorter delivery times, while requiring more varieties of products, so the past large-scale production model is not popular. Therefore, not the traditional uprights, electric spindles, basic boxes, spindle boxes, saddles, hydraulic units, and coolant pumps, the machining center is also equipped with many supporting items, including automatic arm units, workpiece feeders, and live tools Mechanisms, CMM equipment, rotary indexing tables, smart sensors, remote monitoring systems, and many other components are now considered to be the most basic structural units of advanced machining centers.
In this sense, there are still three basic types of vertical machining centers, namely swing heads, which can complete all angle cutting tasks at the same time, the other is a single-axis rotary table type, and finally but not at least, two-axis rotation index The table unit helps to compensate that the tool head is not as powerful as the first swing head introduced.
The design advantage of a vertical machining center is that the workpiece can be physically strong due to the law of gravity. Through the work of the fixture, the entire process can be firmly guaranteed. With this advantage, many large-sized workpieces are transferred to the vertical machining center table for further processing, thereby improving work efficiency.
